RRP Groups...More Reasons to Join

6. Support and Validation.

As survivors of childhood trauma, it is familiar to get

through things alone. That's what we know how to do. In reality we all need the support of others who can and want to be there for us in order to really touch the pain and mourn the loss of a stable and healthy childhood. Without this support, it is just too painful to go it alone. RRP groups are people who are able to understand and offer the support which is so lacking in most other relationships in our lives.

7. Building Intimacy.

Intimacy is about feeling close to others because we can be real and feel seen and accepted by them for who we are. Having missed this in childhood, we grow up convinced that no one wants to really know us, so we continue to hide our needs and feelings. RRP groups offer safe space to explore being more honest about ourselves and our experience both in the past and in the present. It offers a new and different opportunity to experience ourselves in relationships.

8. Improving our Hearing.

In the business of the world around us it is not easy to hear what is going on inside. We avoid listening to feelings we would rather not be aware of and use our go-to distractions to keep them at bay. In RRP groups there is quiet and no distractions, which enables us to listen inside of ourselves in a safe and supportive environment. We can also tune in powerfully to others and strengthen our ability to listen to what they are really saying and feeling.
